Glackin's Departure
Coleraine has announced that midfielder Jamie Glackin will be leaving the club after seven years of service. During his time at Coleraine, Glackin established himself as one of the most consistent players in the Sports Direct Premiership, making 282 appearances and scoring 36 goals.
The Omagh man was a key figure during Coleraine's successful period, including their triumph in the BetMcLean Cup in 2020. Despite missing out on this year’s Irish Cup final due to injury, Glackin played an integral role in several rounds of the competition. He was also one of the first Coleraine players to commit to full-time football ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Glackin's departure has sparked speculation about his next move. The midfielder is expected to receive numerous offers, as he has been a consistent performer for Coleraine over the past decade. Potential destinations include Ballymena United, where Rodney McAree, who previously managed Glackin at Coleraine, now coaches; or even a return to Dungannon Swifts under McAree's management.
McElhatton Joins Dungannon Swifts
Dungannon Swifts have made a significant signing by bringing Michael McElhatton back to Stangmore Park. The 20-year-old from Cookstown had previously played for the club before leaving due to other commitments, but his return is seen as a positive move.
McElhatton impressed with Dergview in last season's Premier Intermediate League and now looks set to contribute to Swifts' squad. This signing marks a homecoming of sorts for McElhatton, who had previously played under Rodney McAree at Dungannon Swifts before his departure.
