Dungannon Swifts were beaten 2-0 by Glentoran in the Northern Ireland Premiership on Saturday. The result at The Oval saw the Swifts slip to sixth in the table with 13 points from eight games.

James Singleton opened the scoring for Glentoran in the 40th minute, netting his first goal of the season. The Swifts made a triple substitution just after the hour mark, bringing on Chris Smith, Andrew Mitchell and Tiarnan Kelly, but could not find a way back into the game. Jack Malone sealed the win for the hosts deep into stoppage time with his second goal of the campaign.

Rodney McAree, the Dungannon Swifts head coach, felt his side created chances but lacked a cutting edge. "I thought for large parts of the game we were very good, especially in the first half, and I thought we were exceptional but we didn't show that ruthless streak and determination to put the ball in the net," he said.

The Swifts picked up four yellow cards, with Adam Glenny, Ben McKeown, Rhyss Clarke and Daniel Larmour all cautioned. The defeat follows a recent run of mixed form, with one win, one draw and three losses in their last five Premiership outings. They now turn their focus to a home fixture against Carrick Rangers next Saturday, October 10th.
