Dungannon Swifts lost 4-2 to Carrick Rangers in the Premiership on Saturday, a defeat that extends their winless run. An own goal just before half-time proved a key moment in a game where the Swifts twice pulled a goal back only to concede again.
Carrick took an early lead through Heatley in the ninth minute, but Dillon equalised for Dungannon three minutes later. Crowe restored the visitors' advantage at the 20-minute mark. The momentum swung decisively just before the break when a Dungannon defender turned the ball into his own net.
Despite a triple substitution at half-time, Dungannon conceded a fourth goal to Gibson just after the hour. McAllister converted a penalty with eleven minutes remaining, but the home side could not find a way back. The result leaves Dungannon Swifts seventh in the Premiership with 13 points from 11 games. Their recent form shows just one point from the last five matches.
They must now regroup quickly for their next fixture, an away trip to face Bangor on Saturday, 17 October. Bangor are currently bottom of the table, but Dungannon will be looking to repeat their 2-0 victory from the reverse fixture in August.
